Food glorious food

Last weekend the Rugby Food and Drink Festival was in progress just up the road from the Alex and we decided to not only offer real food (the cafe was serving soup, baked potatoes and homemade cake) but also zero calorie treats. Art with a food theme. Just for Saturday 24th September, and trying out the idea of pop up gallery (extra gallery) within the Alex. This was possible because of a timely donation of display boards by Newmans Estate agents. Really appreciate these and they will get lots of use as we think we may return with further pop ups and extended

With the addition of the newest (to us) second display cabinet we were able to display food related work by local artists (@DitherellasWorkshop), Nicky (@nickylart), Dee Luntley, Tamsen Flack (@silksandceramics), Matt Pooley (@TheDoodleMatt), Steve Davies (@stevedavies1st), Gemma Whitford (@gemscreativeplace), Sandi Woods (@sandiwoodsdesigns), Chris Pegler (@peglerpurl), Glynis Hayward-Bradley (@glynhb_mixedmediaart), and Jane Archer (@janearcherartist). Matt, Sandi and Steve put on demonstrations of their work. IJE's (@ijeartist4764) abstracts were enjoying their last weekend in the cafe-gallery area. Lovely atmosphere and lots of good art vibes. Look out for future events through the next few months of this year. Particularly the Alex Arts Weekends on 1-2nd Oct, 15-16th Oct, 12-13th Nov and 26-27th Nov.

Special thanks to Newmans Estate Agents for donation of the racks which they used in their windows years ago and now we use for art! These allow a quick change in design so look out for their use about the place at all our events!
