First Thursday (1st June) - open 4-8pm

We look forward to welcoming back to the Alex some of the poets and songwriters of Rugby (the cafe gallery is open for readings with muical accompaniment) from 4.30 this Thursday. The 'main act' from 6pm will be local band The Scutters in the separate garden room - so poets can continue musing til late.

The Scutters will be playing original and traditional music with style. Its the third visit to the Alex and we always enjoy their performances. Des Fraser (lead guitar) is also a member of the Rugby Artists and Makers network and Rugby Artists Group so its especially nice to welcome him back. (The picture shows them in action during their joyful December first appearance here).

The poetry reading side of things has been growing slowly and we hope to see more poets/performers each month. I May local songwriter and poet Steve Redshaw shared lyrics and some simple guitar accompaniment last month, so if you are a songwriter please feel free to being along lyrics and a song. Its a good way to get some thoughtful feedback and try out new words on a knowledgeable audience.
