POETRY PLEASE?
Poets take up position in the cafe gallery (4pm onwards but welcome to linger. Meet other authors informally and read aloud your work. Its a great way of getting feedback and gaining confidence. Sometimes the words of a song are poetry and sometimes this is with musical accompaniment. Sometimes the words are shared with art that inspired them or art that grew from them.

All poets and writers are welcome to pop in. Email artatthealex@gmail.com if you wish to know more. We hope to have further events if we get more people coming along. So show support please.

LOCAL MUSICAL TALENT
It has been great to have so many local performers here who are either new to live performance or performing new original work with us. The music needs to be yours, or out of copyright* to play it here, so that spurs us towards originality and away from (say) karaoke. But it suits the art-y space we occupy.

We have been delighted in this past year to have played host to Ben Jennings, Louis Scheuer, Ross Edwards, B Roads, Michael Luntley (Sheep Dip sessions), The Scutters, Monday Nights and others . Its an intimate setting, relaxed and the audience is attentive and interested. Email artatthealex@gmail.com if you wish to know more about performing here.

(*We do not have a performing rights license to allow use of cover versions, which pushes us to host new and innovative performers or those with roots in history - both suit us).
