RUGBY LIT-FEST

 Rugby Literary Festival runs from 18th-20th of October. The Alex has special events on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th. (We are not open on Sunday). You can find out more about many other events within the Festival at the Rugby First Events page.

SATURDAY 19th October. Artists' Show and tell. Seven performances (readings and talks) by members of the Rugby Artists and Makers Network. From children's books to horror, from poetry to artbooks.  More detail and timings below.

Steve Davies will talk about his work translating and illustrating the German Dadaist poem An Anna Blume (by Kurt Schwitters). 
He will also talk about his Policy Police graphic novels.

IJE will do a reading from her upcoming/in development work (poetry)
Ije is an artist-healer with a nomadic art practice using painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and words to express a sensuous exploration of metaphysical and material realities.

Terri Brown will read from some of her published work (horror). As a voice over artist this should be a gripping performance.
Writer, author, artist and performer Terri says: 'My art is about inner peace, my novels are horror, my books are self help and my acting is a little bit of everything!'

Luke will do a reading from his published work. He also will bring along his book-stall trailer!
Luke Hartnack is a spoken word poet that doves deep into the evolution of the soul.

Break while we switch to children's authors.
The following two sessions are suitable for all ages.

1.15-2.00
Artist Nicky Luntley will read from Geraldine (her 2023 book about a giraffe) and offer a sneak peek of the new book about Fred the festive Llama. 
In addition to the readings, Nicky (who draws the characters in the books which her father, Michael Luntley, writes) will share her in process drawings. I will also bring small amount of merchandise to sell during the afternoon.

Illustrator Jessica Hartshorn will read from some of her books and talk about her illustrations.
Jessica has several published childrens books (including her Super Panda series) which she has written and illustrated as well as children's books where she has provided delightful illustrations to stories written by other authors.

Tanya Lloyd-White will be reading from her novella 'Little Bird'

Tanya is a writer of horror and dark fiction, mainly short stories and novellas. She has a book of short stories and a novella published under the name T R Hitchman.

There will be work by other authors at the Alex to browse and buy, including artists Shiam Wilcox, Eric Gaskell and Jim Watson.
