LOTS GOING ON ... Across the two weekends of the national Heritage Open Days (HOD) the Alex will be sharing stories of what influenced the work of artists who show work here. There is an exhibition (Influences) which looks at a selection of work by local artists and also what influenced the making of this work. And another exhibition 'Placefulness' by Leah Stuart (who blogs about her show here). In fact we have so much going on that it needs its own guide!  (Click here or on image above to consult this).

IN ADDITION we have five local artists who have interesting stories to tell about what connections to history, geography of family play into their work. Each will offer a session where they will show examples, sources and answer questions about their art.

PLUS an opportunity to hear stories and have a go at telling some a session by traditional story tellers Pete Boyce and Stephen Hobbs (Saturday 7th Sept) and on the 14th September we have The B Roads teaching us about singing shanties. (For both of these these are tasters for more intensive experiences later on, out of our more usual opening hours).

ALSO we will have Vietnamese artists Sue Phan not only showing work but cooking us some tasty Vietnamese street food on each of the four days we are open for HOD.

Look out for Shanties and Pirate Songs  with The B Road and Matt Black for International Talk Like a Pirate Day on Thursday 19th September (6-9pm). Also look out for performance and workshop by Pete Boyce and two fellow story tellers on Friday 18th October (afternoon and evening) as part of the Rugby Literary Festival. Busy start to an exciting autumn.

Check the other events happening as part of Heritage Open Days, both in Rugby and nationally.
