I am going to call this a masterclass, its 12 hours across two days with a week between to develop ideas. Taught by Eric Gaskell (whose work often graces the Alex and never fails to impress) along with Steve Davies who is the resident printmaker at the Alex. The class is taught when the Alex is otherwise not open to the public, and is a small class (expect 6-8 participants). The first presentation in October was a triumph. The students were all very capable and produced great results (see the in progress work below). They have further ambitions, so most of them will be back for further lessons in linocutting here at the Alex.
As with all our workshops you need to contact the artist(s) direct to book (see advert above). The dates for 2024 have just been released (Feb 15th & 22nd, March 14th & 21st, April 11th & 18th). As a looker on I am anticipating seeing some great work emerging from blocks of lino next Spring, especially as some of the participants will be moving into multi block colourwork.
This is not the only workshop taught here. To find out about others and see an archive of past classes go to this folder.
