Salon des Refuses - the exhibition!

Tamsen Flack looks at her stunning eco-print and silk painting embellishment - Bats in the Moonlight

We had the idea of holding a salon des refuses at Art at the Alex last year and its now happening. Its on show during December. If you are going to visit the very fine (and very large) Rugby Open show at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum this month then this provides a more intimate view of local work in an informal setting. Most of the artists here also have work there.

Works, including Debra Wenlock's impressive Remain in Light in the bar - this lighting shows up that dyed seat cover doesn't it?

This really is a celebration of the talent locally. If you consider that this is work which was _not_ selected for the Rugby Open, Coventry Open, Leamington Open or other farther afield exhibitions you can see that the standards are high and the places are limited. Very happy to be able to give local artists and makers a second chance to show work. Open Thursdays-Sundays from 1-22nd December (10-4). Artists with work on show are also stewarding so you should be able to talk to them about the show and their work.

Unlike our usual exhibitions if you wish to buy a work on the wall you can take it away before the show closes (4pm on 22nd December) in case you need to wrap it up for someone special!
