Forwarning! Art admidst the Food and Drink Festival

Are you planning to go to Rugby's Spring Food and Drink Festival (calling it 'Spring' in the hope that there will be two this year, one in the Autumn too ;-)).  If so do look out for the many local artists and makers who will be around and about Art at the Alex.  With St Andrews Church also having three makers, this a festival where you can pause to appreciate art in action and talk to and buy from local ceatives as well as sampling street food.

ART AT THE ALEX (James St. - 12 artists) has artists both inside and outside and plenty of tea/coffee/cake for those who want to visit and linger. Outside artists will be Jessi_illustrates with colourful art and children's story books, Gemscreativeplace (Gemma, pictured) will be drawing en plein air, Mjay Mistry (will have photography and copper sculptures) and also outside (in the pavilion - but may be subject to change) will be Tom Jennings' woodcarving class making stools. (This is a pre-book all-day event so see this poster to book if you like this idea). Inside there are Chris aka Peglerpurl (textiles) with her wheel out and some skeins and batts to buy. Also Bethany Hughes (aka Blue Coppice - needlefelting and counted cross-stitch), Chris Wright (Revels leathercraft - see picture), Sue Phan (HPart abstract artwork), Matt Pooley (Thedoodlematt with his comic characters), Sam Basnett (with illustrations of familiar scenes) and John Needham (artist with a touch of magic).  Resident printmaker Steve Davies will be printing food related artwork on his press-made-from-mangle.

Two exhibitions and many other artists with work on display this month means that there is work from NEARLY 50 local artists on show here that day. What a bonanza. A short walk away there is also ...

ST ANDREWS (Church St. - 3 artists/makers) will as usual be a hub for activity, with live music and food vendors AND this year three local artists. Ed Creighton, Hannah Kempe and Aish. (You may have seen work by Hannah and Aish here before, and throughout April Hannah has a joint-exhibition in the cafe gallery here). Ed (as a local musician) we hope to have here playing one day.

All this and Food and Drink galore!
